GYM RULES
We hate rules, however we want you to have the best possible experience in our gym so it's best to be up front about what we should expect from each other to make sure that's the case.
Please note that The Training Station is an unmanned gym which brings certain obligations.
Your safety and security is our top priority. This document sets out the rules you must comply with when using our gym to help us achieve this.
If you break the Gym Rules we have the right to cancel your membership. This is so we can ensure that our members can enjoy our facilities to the max.
Things you must do:
1. Familiarise yourself with these Gym Rules and the Safety and Security guidance.
2. Use all gym equipment correctly, safely and respectfully and take responsibility for any damage caused by misuse.
3. Only use the entry-controlled door (except in an emergency) and ensure that it is fully closed after entering or exiting.
4. Exit the gym prior to its closing time of 22.00 - it's a rule imposed on us by the Council.
5. Provide ID if asked for by a member of The Training Station staff.
6. Wear clothing and footwear which is appropriate for exercise - be safe and don't offend anyone.
7. Keep the gym clean and tidy and put your weights and equipment back in their correct place when finished - we all hate an untidy gym!
8. Be considerate of others and avoid using gym machines or equipment for long periods of time - its good to share!
9. Inform us of any change of contact and email address or telephone numbers. These changes can be made in the Members' Area of the The Training Station website. We want to be able to keep in touch!
10. Keep any valuables on your person. Members are solely responsible for their own belongings whilst visiting The Training Station. The Training Station Milngavie Ltd accepts no responsibility for any loss or damage to personal property including lost or uncollected property.
11. Use the changing room appropriate to your biological sex.
12. Ensure that you take personal responsibility for your training and safety within the gym and only train within your ability.
13. Pay in full at the point of purchase for any products made available for sale to gym users, using the facilities provided.
14. Enjoy your time training at The Training Station and help make it a fantastic place to allow everyone to be the best that they can be.
Things you must not do:
1. Share your PIN number or QR code with anyone or otherwise allow entry to the gym to anyone without them using their own member’s QR code. If someone tailgates you into the gym, please report to a member of staff or contact info@thetrainingstation.co.uk.
2. Use any of the gym machines or equipment if you are unsure how to use them.
3. Use any of the gym machines or equipment if you are injured, unwell or not capable of exercising unsupervised.
4. Bring bags or large items onto the gym floor. This is for your safety and the safety of others in the gym.
5. Wear inappropriate clothing. Clothing such as jeans, boots, flip-flops/sandals, slip on shoes or work wear are not permitted. Please do not wear any items of clothing that may cause offence to others.
6. Train in large groups / hog the gym machines or equipment for long periods of time. We encourage our members to share between sets during busy periods.
7. Use the gym whilst under the influence of alcohol, narcotics, tranquilisers or any medication or other substance which may affect your ability to exercise safely. You must not bring illegal substances into the gym.
8. Misuse the weights by dropping them on the floor, unless within areas designed for heavy lifting.
9. Take pictures, videos or live stream other members within the gym without their permission.
10. Make video calls in the changing rooms.
11. Behave in an anti-social, aggressive, abusive, violent or threatening manner whilst on our premises. Harassment, violence, bullying or discrimination of, or against, other gym users or members of staff will not be tolerated.
12. Use the gym if you are under the age of 16. A member of staff may ask you for ID at any time.
13. Smoke or use vapes/e-cigarettes at any time in any part of our premises.
14. Bring bikes or e-scooters into our premises. These should be left outside the gym.
15. Bring a personal trainer into the gym unless they have a current agreement with The Training Station to act on our premises as personal trainer, or you have been given permission in writing by The Training Station.
16. Provide personal training to members without a current agreement from the Training Station. Anyone acting as a personal trainer on our premises without a current agreement will be asked to leave the gym immediately and may have their access to the gym curtailed.
17. Bring any pets (other than official aid dogs) into The Training Station premises.
18. Be an idiot! Help us make The Training Station a fantastic place to train and workout, for everyone,
For members safety and security we operate CCTV in our gym 24/7. The Training Station reserves the right for its employees and contractors to review footage as required. For example, in the event of a member complaint, issue or dispute we may refer to the CCTV recording to help us in any investigation.
TERMS & CONDITIONS
SUMMARY
Please take the time to read these Terms and Conditions in full, as well as the Gym Rules, as they form part of this contract between you and us.
This section contains a summary of the Terms and Conditions of your membership of The Training Station, but you must read the Terms and Conditions and Gym Rules in full, because this summary is only intended to provide you with an overview of the key terms, not all of the terms.
- You must be a paid member to gain access to the gym and have paid in advance for one of our membership option periods. You may cancel your membership at any time but in general no refunds will be given for the unexpired period of any prepaid membership.
- You must comply with the Gym Rules.
- Your use of our gyms is unsupervised. Your safety is your responsibility, and we are not responsible for any injury, loss or damage suffered by you which is not caused by our breaking this contract, by our negligence or by our breaking the law. Please see the section below for more details about Our responsibilities and the limits to our responsibilities.
- We are not responsible for the loss of or damage to of any belongings / property or any theft of your belongings / property which you bring into one of our gyms (whether or not you use a locker) unless the loss or damage is caused by our negligence.
- You must not allow others to use your PIN or QR code or otherwise allow others to enter the gym without them using their own personal PIN or QR code.
- We can cancel your membership and end this contract in certain circumstances please see the section below We can cancel your membership and end the contract for more details.
WHERE TO FIND INFORMATION ABOUT US AND OUR SERVICES
1. We are The Training Station Milngavie Ltd (The Training Station), a company registered in Scotland. Our company registration number is SC828818 and our registered office is at Broadgate Farm, Campsie Road, Strathblane, G63 9AB

HOW TO JOIN
1. Before you first use our gym, you must have done the following as part of the join-up process: (i) completed your details on our join-up page (ii) confirmed that you have read and you agree to the health agreement declaration, (iii) confirmed that you have read and you agree to these Terms and Conditions, (iv) if you are applying to become a member, made payment of the amount required for the type of membership you have chosen. Once you have completed these steps, we will contact you to let you know whether your membership application has been accepted.
2. You must read the health agreement declaration carefully and must not confirm your agreement to it unless the confirmations set out in it are accurate for you. We will rely on your agreement to the health agreement declaration to decide whether you can become a member.
3. You must make sure that all of the details you give us during the join-up process are accurate and complete.
4. We do not have to accept your application to use our gym. We can reject your application, for example if we have cancelled a previous membership held by you because you have broken our terms and conditions and gym rules then in effect, or if we reasonably believe that letting you use our gyms could pose a risk to us, you, or other users.
5. At the point at which we confirm to you by email that your application has been accepted, a binding contract will come into existence between you and us. We refer to this binding contract as “this contract” in these Terms and Conditions. These Terms and Conditions and the Gym Rules will be terms of this contract, along with (if you have become a member) any other terms applicable to the membership option you have selected in the join-up process.
6. Disabled access: If you tick the ‘disabled access’ box upon joining, your membership will be temporarily put on hold. We will contact you to discuss your needs in terms of access and any required Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan (PEEP) and you will be shown how to use the easy access facilities. We will then remove the hold on your membership and confirm on our systems that any required PEEP is in place which will allow you unrestricted access to the gym.
7. For your own safety you must familiarise yourself with the Gym Rules and any other guidance issued on safety and security, first aid and emergency procedures or guidance on staying safe in the gym whilst it is unmanned.
8. We charge you for your membership when we accept your application to use our gym. However, for monthly membership we take payment at regular intervals, as explained to you during the order process.
9. You will be entitled to the rights for the type of membership chosen which are set out in the confirmation email sent to you.
10. You agree to tell us immediately of any change to the details you give us during the join-up process.
11. You cannot transfer this contract to anyone else or let anyone else use the rights under this contract. If you do let anyone else use our gyms under this contract we have with you, we can end this contract immediately by giving you notice by email.
EXERCISING SAFELY
1. Unsupervised exercise: We do not supervise your exercise or your use of the gym machines and equipment at our gym. You must take all steps within your control to use the gym safely and to avoid injury to yourself and others when using our gym.
2. Responsibility for fitness / deciding whether to use gyms is yours: You must make sure you are capable of safely undertaking unsupervised exercise at our gym, taking into account your fitness level, strength, any health conditions, weaknesses, injuries or illnesses you have (or have had in the past), and your familiarity with using gyms and gym machines and equipment, and if you are unsure you should seek advice from your doctor. If there are any changes in your health, fitness level or strength (including recent illnesses, injuries and new or worsened health conditions) it is your responsibility to decide whether to continue exercising in our gym and using our gym machines and equipment. Our staff are not authorised by us to advise whether you are capable of safely exercising in the gym, and you should not rely on any advice given by them.
3. Exercise within your limits: You must make sure you exercise within your limits and seek advice from your doctor if you are unsure what is and is not advisable for you to do.
4. Gym machines and equipment: Our gym has gym machines and equipment which could cause injury to you or others if not used properly. Many of our gym machines and equipment have instructions and you should take your time to understand those instructions before using them and you must only use those gym machines and equipment in accordance with the instructions. Some of the gym machines and equipment in our gyms do not have instructions for use, and you must only use those gym machines and equipment if you know from your previous experience how to use them safely. If you are unsure as to how to use any of the gym machines or equipment, please seek advice from a qualified member of our staff before using such gym machines or equipment.
5. Inductions: We offer inductions to show users how to use some of the gym machines and equipment, but we do not make you complete an induction (save for the disabled access induction described above), and our inductions will not cover how to use all the gym machines and equipment. It is up to you to decide whether to have an induction. Whether or not you have an induction, it will not change your responsibilities or ours under this contract.
6. Gym Rules: You must keep to the Gym Rules.
7. Emergency help points and safety stations: You must make sure you know where the emergency help points, emergency exits, and safety stations are in the gym.
8. Slip and trip hazards: You must take care when using the gym to avoid slip and trip hazards such as loose weights, personal belongings of other users and spilt liquids.
9. What to do if you feel unwell or injure yourself: You should ask for help if you feel unwell, injure yourself, or are concerned for your safety or wellbeing. If a Training Station member of staff is not on hand, you should use one of the red emergency help points located around the gym. We have a remote CCTV coverage which can see all areas of the gym other than the changing rooms, but this is not monitored at all times and should not be relied on to respond should you be in any difficulty.
10. Reporting accidents: You must report any accident or injury you have whilst using our gym by notifying a Training Station member of staff or by notifying us on info@thetrainingstation.co.uk
MEMBERSHIP FEES AND PAYMENT
1. Your membership fees are collected from you either by Debit / Credit card at time of purchase, or for Monthly Membership plans, by direct debit approximately 5 working days from the date when we accept your application to join, and monthly thereafter.
2. For monthly memberships, your membership auto-renews monthly and we will continue to take the monthly membership fees by direct debit unless and until you or we cancel your membership.
3. You may terminate your monthly membership at any point by cancelling your direct debit within the members' area of The Training Station Clubright app or website, up to 4 working days before your payment date. You can also cancel directly with your bank, allowing 4 working days for the bank to action this.
4. In the above circumstances your membership will remain in force until the day before your next payment is due, at which point it will automatically terminate.
5. On receipt of payment and commencement of your membership, you will be issued with a QR code accessed via the Clubright App which you will be given details of. This will allow you access to the gym through our entry controlled door system.
6. If any direct debit is returned unpaid or if any other form of payment is not honoured for whatever reason, your membership will be paused and your access to the gym will be halted until payment is made either through us automatically retrying the Direct Debit or you having paid by another means. We will advise you if your Direct Debit has failed. It may take a few days for a resubmitted Direct Debit to be processed and your membership will remain paused during this period.
7. Payment is made in advance for the period of membership that you have selected. Other than as per 9. below, no refund will be given if you choose to cancel your membership within the period that you have paid for.
8. If you have purchased a Fixed Term membership for e.g. for 12 months (the Fixed Term), your membership will (unless you cancel or we cancel under the terms of this contract) run for the length of the Fixed Term and then automatically terminate. There is no auto-renewal of Fixed Term memberships (only monthly memberships).
9. You can cancel a Fixed Term membership before the end of the Fixed Term by contacting us on info@thetrainingstation.co.uk and you will be entitled to ask for a refund of 50% of the pro-rata’d proportion of the fees paid for the Fixed Term which relate to the period from the date on which you give us notice to the last day of the Fixed Term.
10. Day Passes are valid for the day of purchase only and are non-refundable. They commence when you have completed the sign in process and made payment resulting in the issuance of a QR code via The Training Station Clubright app or website, Day Passes expire at 22.00 on the day of purchase and, like all of our memberships, are not transferrable.
WE CAN CHANGE THE FEES PAYABLE BY YOU FOR MEMBERSHIP
1. From time to time we may increase the fees for monthly membership (meaning the price you pay monthly for your membership). We will give you at least 30 days’ notice of any incoming price increase and will make it clear when the price increase will take effect and how much your membership will cost after the increase. During this 30-day period, you will have the right to cancel your membership at any point by cancelling your direct debit within the members area of the The Training Station Clubright app or website. You can also cancel directly with your bank, allowing 4 working days for the bank to action this. If you do not cancel the membership by the date given to you in the notice on which the change in price takes effect, then your membership with continue and the price of your membership will be automatically increase in accordance with our notice.
ACCESS POLICY
1. Access Device: Entry to our gym is by use of a secured entry door activated by a QR code issued via The Training Station Clubright app. This QR code will enable you to securely access the gym in accordance with the terms of your membership. If you have any difficulty with access you should contact info@thetrainingstation.co.uk immediately.
2. Only you must use your Access Device: Your Access Device is issued solely for your use, as your membership is personal to you and only covers your use of our gym. You are responsible for keeping your Access Device secure and confidential at all times.
3. Monitoring of Access: In the interests of the safety and security of all our members, use of Access Devices is monitored and individuals using Access Devices may be asked to provide proof of identification.
4. What we will do if we think your Access Device has been misused: If we believe that your Access Device has been used by another individual or individuals we may decide to conduct an investigation. If we do so we will: (a) inform you, via email, that we believe your Access Device has been used by another individual or individuals and ask you to provide us with reasonable assistance to investigate the matter; and (b) following our investigation we will contact you, via email, to inform you of the result of our investigation and what we are going to do, which may include one or more of the steps set out in paragraph 5 below.
5. Our right to impose additional fees and/or cancel your membership: If you unreasonably refuse to cooperate with our investigation, or following our investigation we have reasonable grounds to believe that your Access Device was used, with or without your knowledge and/or consent, by another individual or individuals, depending on the particular circumstances of each case, we reserve the right to take any one or more of the following steps, which are in addition to any other legal rights that we may have: (a) to give you a written warning demanding that you take steps to prevent further abuse of your Access Device; (b) either at the same time as the written warning or as a later step, to apply a penalty charge to your membership fees (and increase your direct debit payment(s) accordingly). The penalty charge will be calculated as being equal to the price of a day pass (that applied at the time of use) for each occasion on which your Access Device was used by that individual/those individuals; or (c) in the event of serious misuse of your Access Device, for example,your Access Device has been used on repeated occasions or by more than one individual, to notify you, via email, that we are cancelling your membership with immediate effect, without a refund.
6. Your responsibility for another's conduct: If we have reasonable grounds for believing that you provided your Access Device to another individual or individuals, or allowed unauthorised entry following your entry to the gym (known as tailgating) in addition to our rights referred to in paragraph 5 above, we may hold you responsible for the conduct of the individual(s) while on our gym premises, and you may be required to pay us compensation for any loss we suffer as a consequence of that conduct.
WE CAN CANCEL YOUR MEMBERSHIP AND END THIS CONTRACT
1. If you break these Terms and Conditions or the Gym Rules, we may choose to give you a written warning instead of ending this contract (cancelling your membership), but we do not have to give you a written warning before ending this contract.
2. We can end this
contract (which means cancelling your membership) immediately by giving notice
to you by email, and we can claim from you any compensation due to us for loss
we have suffered if:
a. you don't make any payment to us when payment is due; or
b. you break any of the following Gym Rules:
1. the rule not to share your QR code with anyone or allow anyone else to use it or tailgate you into the gym (which means following you in without using their own QR code);
2. the rule not to use the gym whilst under the influence of alcohol, narcotics, tranquilisers or any medication or other substance which may affect your ability to exercise safely;
3. the rule not to behave in an aggressive, abusive, violent, or threatening manner whilst on our premises;
4. the rule not to behave in an anti-social manner when on our premises, for example by making unwanted advances of a sexual nature to other gym users or The Training Station staff members, or by staring or cat calling at other users or The Training Station staff members, or by engaging with other users after they have asked you to leave them alone; or
c. you repeatedly breach any of the Gym Rules
(which means you commit 2 or more breaches of the Gym Rules in one month, or 6
or more breaches of the Gym Rules in any 6-month period); or
d. you do not, within a reasonable time of us asking for it, provide us with
information that we need (and that we told you we needed) in order to provide
the service or comply with our legal requirements;
e. we reasonably believe that if you continued to use the gym there is a risk
of harm to yourself, any other user of the gym, or any member of The Training
Station staff; or
f. we reasonably believe that if you continued to use the gym there is a real
risk of damage to our reputation or any part of our business.
OUR RESPONSIBILITIES AND THE LIMITS TO OUR RESPONSIBILITIES
1. What The Training
Station is responsible for: We are responsible for:
a. keeping to all laws and regulations (including health and safety regulations
and fire safety regulations) applicable to our business;
b. marking gym machines or equipment as faulty after becoming aware that such
gym machine or equipment is faulty.
2. What The Training
Station is not responsible for: We are not responsible for:
a. any injury, loss or damage suffered by you which is not caused by our
breaking this contract, by our negligence or by our breaking the law;
b. any injury, loss or damage suffered by you which is caused by an event or a
series of events outside our control except where (i) it was obvious that that
event or series of events might happen, and (ii) we are responsible under this
contract or under the law for taking steps to avoid that event or series of
events occurring or to minimise the impact of that event or series of events
occurring, and (iii) we had not taken the steps we were required to take under
this contract or under the law;
c. any injury, loss or damage suffered by you which you could have avoided by
taking reasonable action including keeping to our Gym Rules;
d. any loss of or damage to your belongings / property or any theft of your
belongings / property from the gym unless the loss or damage is caused by our
negligence (this includes any belongings / property you choose to store in the
lockers provided by us (see the Lockers section below);
e. any injury, loss or damage suffered by you which relates to any personal
training services which you choose to use. (Providers of personal training
services to you are doing this as self-employed service providers (not as
employees of The Training Station), and these Terms and Conditions do not apply
to those personal training services. Please see the section Personal
Trainers for further information.);
f. losses you suffer caused by us breaking this contract or by our negligence
if the loss is unforeseeable (which means it was not obvious that it would
happen).
3. Your legal rights: As a consumer, you have legal rights in relation to any services which we provide that are not carried out with reasonable skill and care. Advice about your legal rights is available from your local Citizens' Advice Bureau or Trading Standards office. Nothing in these Terms and Conditions will affect those legal rights.
WE CAN CLOSE OUR GYM PERMANENTLY OR STOP PROVIDING ANY SERVICES FROM OUR GYM
If we close our gym permanently or stop providing one or more services from our gym, we will let you know at least 30 days in advance and we will refund any sums you've paid in advance for services which won't be provided.
WHAT HAPPENS IF THE GYM IS CLOSED TEMPORARILY?
1. We may sometimes have to close or restrict access to the gym temporarily. This may be due to renovation or maintenance work, damage, repairs, cleaning, health or hygiene measures or for other operational reasons. Where possible, we will try to notify you in advance of any such closure.
2. If we are unable to provide you with access to the gym for reasons outside of our control, we will notify you as soon as possible after the event.
3. Please note that we may continue charging you during this time. If the gym remains closed for more than 72 hours, you can contact us at info@thetrainingstation.co.uk to claim a refund for any membership fees you have paid in advance for the days the gym is closed.
4. Your right to cancel your membership remains the same. Please refer to the Membership Fees and Payment section above for more details.
5. We will not be responsible for reimbursing you for any monies owed by you to a personal trainer for any period during which the gym or part of it is closed.
WE CAN ASK YOU TO LEAVE OUR PREMISES
If you break any of your obligations under this contract, we may ask you to leave our premises immediately. If we make this request (whether by our staff or via any remote operator), you must leave the premises immediately.
LOCKERS
1. We provide lockers for your use in our gym. The lockers we provide do not have locks on them, and if you wish to lock your belongings away in our lockers, you must bring your own padlock and key. These may be available for sale at our reception.
2. You must only use lockers for the duration of your training session. Lockers may be emptied at night and items in those lockers will be removed to lost property. Padlocks may be broken to gain access and will not be replaced by us. We do not take responsibility for any item held in lost property. Such items will be kept for no longer than one week after which time the items will either be donated to charity or destroyed. To comply with the Civic Government of Scotland Act, valuable items of lost property will be passed to the local Police Station at the earliest convenience and all other items of lost property will be taken to the Regional Custodies Department in bulk.
3. We are not responsible for any personal property left in lockers on our premises - anything you leave in one of our lockers is left at your own risk (whether the locker is locked or unlocked).
4. We are not responsible for any theft of any personal property from anywhere in the gym, including any personal property that is left in lockers. We recommend that you make sure that your household contents or other insurance policy protects you against any risk of theft or loss of your personal property when using our gym.
CHANGING ROOMS
1. We provide separate-sex communal changing rooms.
2. The separate-sex communal changing rooms are designated for use by individuals according to their biological sex.
PERSONAL TRAINERS
1. Only personal trainers with a current contract with The Training Station are permitted to train members in the gym unless granted express permission in writing from us. Anyone else providing users with personal training will be asked to leave the gym immediately.
2. Personal training is arranged directly with the personal trainer and not with The Training Station. This means that the personal trainer (not The Training Station) provides personal training services to you. Personal trainers do not provide their personal training services on behalf of The Training Station, even if the personal trainer is wearing our branded clothing.
UNDER 18S
1. You are not permitted to access the gym unless you are at least 16 years old.
2. In line with industry guidance, users under the age of 18 are not permitted to attend group exercise classes, workshops, or inductions or receive personal training services.
WE CAN CHANGE OUR SERVICES AND THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS
1. We can make changes
to our service (the way we operate our gym) without giving you notice in
advance:
a. where we are required to do so by law to reflect changes in relevant laws
and regulatory requirements; or
b. to address an urgent issue where there is a risk of harm to users (for
example to address a security threat); or
c. to make minor technical adjustments and improvements which do not have an
impact on your use of our gyms.
2. Changes we can only make if we give you notice and an option to cancel: We can also make other changes to our service or these Terms and Conditions, but if we do so we will notify you and you can then contact us on info@thetrainingstation.co.uk to cancel your membership and end this contract before the change takes effect and receive a refund for any services you have paid for in advance, but not received.
OTHER TERMS APPLICABLE TO THIS CONTRACT
1. You cannot transfer this contract with us to someone else because we require all users to sign up to our Terms and Conditions and to complete a health agreement declaration which is personal to them. You may cancel your membership in the ways described in these Terms and Conditions.
2. This contract is governed by the laws of Scotland.
